Luke’s unique breed of live composition is born of his passions and studies.

Years of Jazz playing, serious inquiry into early Western polyphonic music and an affinity for the raw textural potential of acoustic and electric stringed instruments form the primary elements of his palette.

Early exposure to jazz through educational programs (b.1979 SF, CA) allowed Luke to participate in the Monterey Jazz Festival, and the Grammy in the Schools programs as part of the San Francisco Jazz Festival. In pursuit of his musical vision, he has also studied privately on guitar, piano with some of the most respected pedagogues in the field of modern music.

Kevin R. Gallagherstudied with Sharon Isbin at Julliard, won the Francisco Tárrega Guitar Competition (1997).

For the past decade Luke has been exploring diverse musical settings and groupings. He recorded and performed with SF Bay Area percussion legend Donald “Duck” Bailey (organist Jimmy Smith’s first call drummer, Donald played on over 24 records for the Bluenote label from 1956-1969). He also curated and participated in the “Listening Hut”, a successful weekly creative- music series in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District that featured prominent local artists such as Matthew Goodheart, Gino Robair, Phillip Greenlief, Damon Smith, Sheldon Brown and Jon Raskin (R.O.V.A. Saxophone quartet). During those years Luke was also a first call Jazz guitar player in the thriving San Francisco club scene.

In late 2009 Luke moved to Brooklyn, NY. Since moving east he has balanced his ambitions of live performance with other professional duties in the field of music working as a professional sheet music transcriptionist and also scoring a series of short videos for the Wall Street Journal.

Currently dividing his time between Northern California and New York, catch Luke performing at venues throughout the greater NY area.[/expand]
